For a year now, the world has been dealing with a crisis which affects almost every aspect of our lives. The Covid-19 pandemic has created a lot of distress, and we are still struggling to find the right solutions to put an end to the problem, even now that the vaccine has been created.
However, this past year has also shown that solidarity and generosity represent, more than ever, important values for citizens across Europe.
With more than 28 million euros channeled in 2020, Transnational Giving Europe has witnessed a major wave of donations across all philanthropic causes, but especially in the health sector. Though 2020 affected many across the continent, donors were quickly on hand to support those in need.
Close to half of the amount collected went to Covid-related programmes, while the remaining half was redistributed to the usual causes. All in all, TGE registered a 102% increase in donations facilitated compared to 2019.
Every year, TGE grows a little bit more, thanks to the work of all our partners over Europe, and beyond. The network took a giant step forward in 2020, and we will continue to build on this, together.
