March 2015 – The figures of the TGE network continue to grow in 2014
In 2014, 12 M € of donations were transferred throughout Europe with the help of the cross-border philanthropic network TGE that now covers 17 European countries. This represents a growth of 37% compared to 2013 when 8,7 M € were channelled. The network aims to continue to promote and inspire European philanthropy in the following years by providing a secure and efficient route to enable donors to give to the causes they care about in Europe.

TGE in figures
In 2014, the cross-border philanthropic network Transnational Giving Europe channelled donations for a global amount of more than € 12 million. This represents a growth of 37% in comparison with 2013 when the figure exceeded the € 8,5 million. In total, 5500 donations went across borders thanks to the 18 partner organisations which now span the network in 17 European countries. Last year, 5400 donors chose to use TGE to support a cause abroad, of which 400 were corporations. These donations benefited about 350 public benefit organisations active in various areas, ranging from health to culture and from education to development.

Member States’ tax rules and practice hinder cross-border philanthropy in Europe
A study released by the European Foundation Centre and the Transnational Giving Europe network “Taxation of cross-border philanthropy in Europe after Persche and Stauffer - From landlock to free movement?” calls for less red-tape and non-discriminatory tax treatment for donors and philanthropic organisations throughout the Member States.
